• This Pentecostal Church in Gothenburg’s redeveloped docklands will be a large multi-functional facility containing three large sacral spaces, one of which comprices an entire floor plate, as well as spaces for children and education, a restaurant, a charity grocery hand-out, music studios, and a sports hall. The church has an extensive social agenda and wanted an extrovert approach. The footprint derives from the program of the largest sacral space - wrapped by exterior facades on four sides, this large space is lifted one story up, announcing itself to the city and enjoying daylight from all sides. By elevating the largest program element, the ground floor can be open, free, transparent, and approached from all sides. Its smaller but extrovert sacral space is seamlessly connected to the square. Above two educational floors is a walled garden and a more intimate sacral space, with views over the city, the ocean, and the sky. Structural engineer: DIFK and BRA. Images by Aesthetica Studio
